Part placement:: tedious but neccessary
Okay, so I'm a bit tired of the placement game as I'm sure you are too, but it's a neccessary evil!  Knowing where your vocal ranges are and where your natural breaks are allows you to track your progress and compensate for weaknesses!  Knowledge is the tool to power!

The men folk are flocking in in droves and I couldn't be happier with the sound.  What fun we will have this year.  With all on my plate, I still find myself getting excited about trips and concerts and opportunities for you to show your stuff around the community!

Have a great weekend everyone!  :)

So proud!

This morning, as I take a minute to review my plans for the day and see how crazy busy my schedule has become, I can breathe a sigh of relief as I review the section leaders’ notes from yesterday’s class.  I am so proud of my concert choir for being able to live up to my expectations for class in my absence.  I have heard that everyone is working hard and getting the work done.  This is such a valuable trait as not only does it get everyone more secure in their solfege and theory, we also begin to build a level of trust and respect which is absolutely necessary for a successful ensemble!

Great job everyone!  I can’t wait to get back to you on Wednesday!

Oooo!  I’m going to try the Trivia Challenge again!  The first of you to raise your hand during warm-ups on Wednesday with the correct answer will win a prize!

Here’s your question:

Which two members of *N SYNC were mouseketters on the NEW Mickey Mouse Club?

Computer problems make me sad :(
Okay, so I got the new Mac two weekends ago, but the software has yet to arrive that will allow me to move to Mac world where I've been told I'll be much happier.  I have blogged three times this week, all of which were fabulously insightful rants about how excited I am with what I'm hearing in my classes, and when I go to publish....nothing but "ERROR:  Internet Explorer cannot display this page!"  Supremely frustrating!  But the new Mrs. Leary does not let the outside frustrations infiltrate her possitive "happy place" this year!   "Yeah Me,"  London Tipton :)

So.........I am so excited about the sound of the chorus this year!  So many of you have grown through previous years and are developing much deeper understandings and musicianship skills that I am envisioning an outstanding year!  Next week, I need to hold an officers' meeting so officers, email me with which day next week works best for you.  I can do Friday after school or any day before school.  Other than that I am already booked with show choir, faculty meetings, etc.

Chamber Singers:  The times for Community Day are Noon-1:00pm.   We'll meet at the gazeebo.  We will sing the National Anthem at the flag pole and then Can't Buy Me Love and The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Show Choir:  Final auditions are Tuesday!  Keep practicing!  Regular rehearsals begin on this Wednesday so be prepared to stay.  The list will be posted on-line by 8:00pm Tuesday night.

Also, choreography weekend is October 4th & 5th.  On Saturday from 8:00-3:00pm  AND Sunday, 8:00am - 12:00pm.  This weekend is mandatory so keep those dates free!

An exhausting first week!
I think it's been an exhausting week for all of us.  There's been so much to do and with all of the meetings and getting used to new schedules, it feels like it just flew by!

I am so excited to see so many new faces and so many of you excited to return!  I can't wait to see how our new knowledge of learning styles and theory will help us work smarter not harder!  I have so many things to share with you from all of my masters work!

I am also thrilled at the impact that your hard work and dedication has trickled down to the middle school program.  It looks like I will have the biggest group ever this year.

Remember to always check the homework page for updates.  And for those of you coming to auditins on Wednesday, good luck!
